The prolonged struggle by thousands of central government employees for more than a decade for a second KV in Calicut materialised in 1995 with the insception of KV NO 2 Calicut.the drems of thousands of people was fulfilled when the Vidyalaya started in a temporary building owned by motor vehicle dept, government of Kerala on first September 1995.the credit of the humble begning of kv 2 goes to the the parents who had formed a committee for materialising the kv. The efforts and cooperation extended by the district collector Mr U.K.S Chauhan was also notable. The first 10th STD came out with 100%pass during 2000 to 2001

Since its inception the Vidyalaya has achieved great heights in academic and non academic activities. A set of learned and dedicated teachers and the hard working students together under the able leadership of the principal have achieved excellent results continuously for the past six years in CBSE X and XII exams both qualitatively and quantitatively and have reached the top position in Calicut District.

c) 2001 - First Batch presented for Secondary Examination CBSE.

d) 2001 - 10+ 2 System started with Science stream

g) 2007 – Computer Science added to Science Stream.

CLASS ROOMS
The Vidyalaya is having 13 well furnished class rooms with necessary electrical fittings and provision for various technology aided learning items.
RESOURCE CENTRE
The Vidyalaya has a room that is developed as a RESOURCE CENTRE with computer, LCD Projector. It is utilized for computer aided teaching of different subjects, conduct of Workshops and Special Programmes on Guidance and Counselling, Value Education, NAEP program etc. In the Primary section also a resource centre is available with the same facilities.
LABORATORIES
COMPUTER LABS
There are 2 computer labs in the Vidyalaya for different groups of students: one for Primary Section with 20 computers, second for secondary and Elective Students of XI & XII with 12 computers. The computer department has educational CDs on all subjects. Teachers are provided with CDs and Floppies for preparing their lessons for class room interaction at the Resource Centre. The students use the lab with internet facility for logging in to the thinkquest.com website and do projects and interact with students and teachers. Computer Science is taught as an Elective subject for Science students at the +2 level. The Lab for these students is equipped with all soft wares required for their studies.

PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY LABS
K V2 CALICUT can brag of impeccable and well maintained science labs namely the Physics, and Biology (temporary arrangement) and Chemistrywhich are mostly used by the senior students. These are fully equipped with every kind of modern apparatus required for the AISSE Practical Examinations as prescribed by the Central Board Secondary Education. The labs are also well stocked with models (still and working), charts and other specimen required for the proper understanding of the science subjects and Computers The Vidyalaya has a well-equipped Physics Lab, especially for the classes IX-XII students. The Lab has all the necessary equipments and apparatus. The Practical are done as per the schedule planned and displayed in the Lab
NB: KVS has sanctioned to construct a new building for Laborataries
JUNIOR SCIENCE LAB
There is no separate LAB for the students from classes VI to X. The facilities in Senior Secondary labs are used to carry out the practical in the subjects - physics, chemistry & Biology.
CHILDREN'S PARK
The Vidyalaya is proposed to develop a Children's Park and an Adventure park for the tiny tots of Primary Section and awaiting for sanction
SPORTS &GAMES
The Vidyalaya gives coaching in various games and sports with help of expert coaches.
